The Illusionists

 THE ILLUSIONISTS

If there’s one live show that you should never miss when it rolls through town – it’s The Illusionists!

You will find jaw-dropping, death-defying stunts and an array of dazzling, mind-boggling, and breathtaking performances for the whole family.

THE ILLUSIONISTS

The Illusionists Live - Magic before your eyes!

The illusionists’ show consists of five to eight brilliant magicians performing mind readings, illusions, escapology, and comedic magic to flabbergast the live audience.
Each of the artists that perform in the show comes with a unique talent.

The illusionists’ cast

Includes mind reader Colin Cloud as “The Deductionist,” magician Chloé Crawford as “The Sorceress;” close-up card magician Shin Lim; Darcy Oake as “The Grand Illusionist;” and Adam Trent as “The Futurist.” Below is a list of some of the show’s past guests to give you a taste of the level of talent you’re guaranteed to see with The Illusionists!:
Andrew Basso is known as ‘The Escapologist.’ An Italian illusionist who likes to cheat death – including being lowered head-first into a glass “Water Torture Cell” with shackled hands and feet – Basso makes sure that his audience remains glued to their seats when he performs death-defying stunts.
Luís de Matos, known as the Master Magician, is a Portuguese magician and the youngest illusionist to receive ‘The David Devant Award’ from The Magic Circle, awarded to those who make a significant contribution for advancing the art of magic. One of his signature illusions has been “Sands of the Desert,” where bands of dry sand are pulled out of bowls of water.
Kevin James, a French-born American magician, is known for his trick ‘The Floating Rose,’ which went viral on the Internet. Kevin also has stunned the judges of America’s Got Talent. Audiences have held their breath as Kevin cut a human body in half with his saw, then joined it back together.
Sos & Victoria, The Transformationists are a German-Armenian/Russian husband and wife combo who fascinate the audience with their quick-change tricks. The change is lightning fast, in the blink of an eye!
Yu Ho-Jin, The Manipulator, is a South Korean illusionist. The youngest boy to win the Magician of the Year Award from the Academy of Magical Arts, he is also known as ‘the future of magic.’ The sleight of hand specialist will send shivers down your spine.
James More, The Deceptionist, is an English magician. When James More appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, it became the most viewed episode. James focuses on creating never-seen-before illusions and cutting-edge tricks that leave the audience awe-stuck.
Enzo Weyne, The Unforgettable, is famous for his impossible ‘The Magic Cube.’ A French magician who uses multifaceted illusions to engage and entertain the audience, Enzo does magic a little differently than others. Instead of replicating magic tricks, he uses his surroundings, observations, and instincts to create magic and amaze his audience.

Free Summer Events, Library programs in Florida

Free Summer Events, Activities, and Shows for Kids at Your Local Library in Florida

Free Summer Events, Activities, and Shows for Kids at Your Local Library in Florida

Summer in Florida is full of sunshine, adventure, and opportunities for families to explore fun and educational activities together. One of the best — and often overlooked — places to find free summer events for kids in Florida is your local library.

Every year, hundreds of libraries across the state organize exciting summer programs, activities, workshops, and live shows designed to entertain children while encouraging reading, creativity, and community engagement.

From interactive storytelling and arts programs to science demonstrations and magic shows, Florida libraries become lively gathering places where families can enjoy enriching experiences without spending a dime.

If you're searching for free things to do with kids this summer in Florida, your local library may offer more opportunities than you imagine.

Why Florida Libraries Offer Some of the Best Free Summer Activities?

Libraries have always been centers of learning, but during the summer months they transform into dynamic community hubs filled with entertainment, discovery, and creativity.

Across Florida, libraries organize summer programs that serve thousands of families each year. These programs provide:

• Educational enrichment for kids
• Creative activities and workshops
• Live entertainment and performances
• Family-friendly community events
• Literacy and reading programs

Most importantly, these events are completely free, making them accessible to families across all communities.

Parents looking for budget-friendly summer activities for kids in Florida often find that library programs provide some of the most engaging options available.

Libraries understand that summer is a time when children benefit from continued learning and social interaction, and they work hard to create programs that balance fun, imagination, and education.

Library Event Planning: Months of Preparation for Summer Programs!

While families enjoy the fun during summer events, many people don’t realize the extensive planning that happens behind the scenes.

Library administrations, librarians, and Friends of the Library organizations work together for months ahead of time to prepare their summer schedules.

Planning often includes:

• Selecting educational themes for the summer
• Coordinating performers and guest speakers
• Scheduling workshops and activities
• Organizing reading challenges and prizes
• Promoting programs to the community

Each library branch develops its own schedule tailored to the needs and interests of local residents.

Because of this, no two library summer programs are exactly the same. Some libraries may focus heavily on storytelling and literacy programs, while others bring in performers, musicians, educators, and magicians.

The goal is always the same: create meaningful experiences that inspire learning and bring communities together.

Florida Library Summer Reading Programs.

One of the most popular components of library summer events is the Summer Reading Program.

These programs encourage children to keep reading during school vacation, helping them maintain literacy skills and develop a lifelong love for books.

Summer reading programs often include:

• Reading challenges and goals
• Storytelling sessions
• Book clubs for kids and teens
• Interactive literacy games
• Reward systems and prizes

Research shows that children who continue reading during the summer are better prepared when they return to school.

Florida libraries play a vital role in supporting families by providing free educational opportunities that keep young minds active.

Educational Workshops and Creative Activities.

In addition to reading programs, many libraries host hands-on learning activities designed to spark creativity and curiosity.

These programs give children opportunities to explore new interests and develop important skills.

Common library workshops include:

Arts and Crafts Programs

Children love creating art, and library craft workshops allow them to experiment with colors, materials, and imagination.

Popular craft activities include:

• Painting projects
• DIY crafts
• Seasonal decorations
• Puppet making
• Creative storytelling through art

These sessions help children develop fine motor skills while expressing creativity.

STEM Learning Activities

Many Florida libraries also offer STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs that make learning exciting.

Kids might participate in:

• Science experiments
• Robotics demonstrations
• Engineering challenges
• Coding workshops
• Nature and environmental programs

These activities help children discover the excitement of science in a fun and accessible way.

Live Shows and Performances at Florida Libraries

One of the highlights of many summer library programs is live entertainment.

Libraries frequently host performers who specialize in educational and family-friendly shows.

Some of the most popular performances include:

• Magic shows
• Puppet shows
• Musical performances
• Educational science shows
• Interactive storytelling

These performances attract large audiences because they combine education with excitement.

Kids love the opportunity to see live performers up close, and libraries provide the perfect venue for these interactive experiences.

Free Magic Shows for Kids at Libraries in Florida

Among the most anticipated library events each summer are magic shows for kids.

Magic performances bring wonder, laughter, and excitement to library audiences while encouraging imagination and curiosity.

Magicians who perform at libraries design shows specifically for children and families. These performances are typically filled with:

• Interactive illusions
• Comedy and humor
• Audience participation
• Visual surprises
• Positive educational messages

Because magic naturally sparks curiosity, it pairs perfectly with library programs focused on learning and discovery.

The Summer Magic Show Tour Across Florida Libraries

Summer is the busiest season for many performers who travel throughout Florida bringing entertainment to libraries.

Each year, magicians visit libraries in cities and counties across the state to perform 45-minute interactive magic shows designed especially for kids.

Preparing for this busy season involves careful planning, rehearsal, and travel coordination.

Every performance is an opportunity to create a memorable experience for children attending the event.

Libraries often schedule multiple performances throughout the summer to ensure that as many families as possible can enjoy the show.

Watching children react with amazement and laughter during a magic show is one of the most rewarding parts of performing at library events.

Why Families Love Library Magic Shows

Magic shows at libraries are unique because they combine entertainment with community engagement.

Unlike large theater performances, library magic shows allow children to interact closely with the magician.

Kids may be invited to:

• Participate in tricks
• Help with magical illusions
• Ask questions about magic
• Experience surprising visual effects

The laughter and excitement shared by both children and parents create a wonderful community atmosphere.

For many kids, attending a library magic show becomes one of the most memorable moments of their summer.

Family Events at Florida Libraries

While many summer programs focus on children, libraries also organize family-friendly events where parents and kids can participate together.

These events help strengthen community connections and encourage families to spend time learning and exploring together.

Family events may include:

• Movie nights at the library
• Outdoor reading picnics
• Cultural celebrations
• Family game days
• Community festivals

Libraries recognize that shared experiences between parents and children can have a lasting impact on learning and development.

How Libraries Strengthen Florida Communities

Libraries provide much more than books. They serve as community centers that bring people together .

Summer programs allow residents to connect with neighbors, meet new friends, and participate in shared learning experiences.

The benefits of library programs include:

• Encouraging literacy and education
• Supporting community engagement
• Providing safe spaces for children
• Offering free entertainment and activities
• Promoting lifelong learning

For many communities, library summer events are an important tradition that families look forward to every year.

The Cirque Magique

The Cirque Magique & Cirque by Night - Dinner Show Orlando

Cirque Theater: The Cirque Magique & Cirque by Night.

They’re not just dinner shows – they’re an experience!

Looking for fun, live entertainment dinner shows in the Orlando area? The Cirque Magique & Cirque by Night are great options to consider!

The Cirque in Orlando offers two types of dinner shows:
The Cirque Magique & Cirque by Night - Dinner Show Orlando
Cirque Magique and Cirque by Night.
The Cirque Magique is a family dinner show and is presented on Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.; and on Sundays at 4:30 p.m.
The Cirque by Night is for ages 16 years and up. These dinner shows are presented on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.

Buying tickets online – Cirque by the Night: everything included!

We picked the Cirque by Night option, a Sunday dinner show at 7:30 p.m.
From the beginning, buying our tickets online – printing them and showing them at the door – was an easy process.
When buying your tickets online, you can select your appetizer (salad or soup) and your main course. Dessert and sodas are included in the price.
Another benefit to buying the tickets online: you can often find coupons, promotions or group discounts that significantly lower the price – a great benefit when you have a lot of people in your party. So we printed our online tickets and hit the road to see the show!

The place:

The Cirque Magique - Dinner Show - is located in Orlando, Florida very close to International Drive, at 6400 Carrier Dr, Orlando, FL 32819. It’s in the same building as the Pirates Dinner Adventure. Parking is on-site and easy, with ample spaces and at a good price: $6 per vehicle
For the shows at 7:30 p.m., the doors opened at 6:30. The seating is done on a first-come, first-serve basis.
You’ll have a good view of the stage from just about any seat. But we got there as soon as the doors opened and were seated at a great spot – on the second tier directly in front of the stage.
Since this was a dinner show, the other benefit of arriving early is that they began to serve us soon after we sat down and ordered our drinks. (There is a full bar, and the price of drinks is extra.) We were able to relax and enjoy our dinner with plenty of time before the show began. When the show starts, your attention will be fixed on the stage!
The Cirque’s building is beautiful, both inside and out – adding to the experience. The cabaret-type setting and theater is elegantly decorated. You have the sensation of being in a magical place of arts, not in a cool empty black box. Attention was given to every detail: chairs, tables, bar, curtains, wall decorations, lights, the stage. All part of the experience!

The service:

Was fantastic -- timely and friendly! Since we bought our tickets online, our beautiful waitress already had our menu choices before we sat down. She even knew our names – maybe she was a mentalist. ;-)
The wait staff are also dancers, characters and performers in the show! Each time they came back to their tables, they were dressed in different, sparkling and elegant costumes.

The Dinner Menu and Drinks:

The Cirque Magique & Cirque by Night - Dinner Show Orlando
The food was fresh and delicious. We ordered Caesar salads and the chicken dinner. Ordering tickets online also helps the venue know what they’ll need to prepare and have on hand so that nothing is wasted.
From the full bar, we ordered a bottle of wine for the occasion. We saw other patrons ordering beers on draft or mixed drinks and a shot that was the night’s special. After the main course, they served the dessert: cheesecake.

By the time the show began, I was already hypnotized by the environment!

The show:

The Cirque Magique & Cirque by Night - Dinner Show Orlando
The Cirque by Night opened in a way that went beyond my expectations: lights, music, singing, and dancers in colorful costumes. The circus ringmaster was a beautiful woman with a captivating singing voice, accompanied – and interrupted by – a trio of funny, bumbling characters and their risqué humor.

The Talents:

We don’t want to give too much away, but rest assured you’ll be dazzled by acts of breath-taking aerial routines, juggling, equilibristics, dancing and more!

Why to go to the Cirque of Magique and Cirque by Night?

Among the dinner shows in Orlando, the Cirque of Magique and Cirque by Night are great choices if you’re looking for family-friendly live entertainment. Whatever your occasion – birthdays, family reunions, anniversaries, graduations – these live shows can help make it a special experience.

Other events – such as corporate trade shows, expos, trade fairs, are great, too. They require that the close-up magician performs at one specific spot, like a booth – using magic tricks to interact with attendees, pulling them over to the booth or table as they walk by.

Why is hiring a Close-up magic show: Strolling / close-up Magician a good idea for my event?

Hire close-up or strolling magicians are great for events where you want to keep your guests entertained and also help break the ice, leaving your guests comfortable and having fun during lapses of time between activities.

This waiting time is critical for guests and the event. Imagine you are preparing the most important day of your life or hosting an event, and you invite friends, family and /or customers, and you don’t have the time at the event to be with them, all at the same time. All of the guests don’t know each other and you want to provide some entertainment to loosen things up.
Close-up Magicians
A close-up /strolling magician creates a buzz and environment of fun and laughter, moving from table to table, for instance at a wedding during lapses of time between the ceremony and dinner – perhaps when guests are waiting for the bridal party during the taking of pictures, or waiting for dinner to be served.
Close-up magic show is also great when guests are spread out over a large area or their attention is divided. Strolling or close-up magicians move seamlessly between clusters of people at cocktail parties – livening up conversations and drawing people together.

At corporate trade-shows or trade fairs, a close-up magician works wonderfully to pull people to your booth and make your product or service stand out from all the others. Also, close-up magic show is another way to market your product: a close-up magician can perform tricks that promote your product – including putting your logo on a deck of cards or handkerchiefs, or doing tricks with your product.

What types of events do not work well for close-up magic?

It is not recommendable to hire a close-up magician if you’re having an event with a large, seated audience (anywhere from 20 to 500 people), where all the guests’ attention is focused at the same time, it is better to hire stage magic show, illusions – or a full Comedy Magic Show. This is the case whether this is on an actual stage or in front of seated family and guests at your home, country club, office party or dinner party. Kids’ parties also work best with a Magic Show, not a close-up magic show.

What qualities should I look for in to hire a close-up magician or strolling magician?

A strolling close-up or magician needs to do more than perform amazing card tricks. Spectacular magic is a must, of course. But the close-up magician or strolling magician also has to have the ability to interact well with guests and know how to time each encounter – usually around two to five minutes – so that all the guests are provided entertainment. Because the interactions are so up-close, the magician has to have a great sense of humor, knowing how to spontaneously respond to any situation, including when guests decline a magic demonstration.

The close-up magician needs to have experience in order to quickly read the audience and make fast decisions to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and has fun. The magician should be a charismatic person, funny, outgoing and – importantly – professional.

What are the professional characteristics of a reputable close-up magician / strolling magician for my event?

Now that you have decided that you would like a close-up magician / strolling magician for your event, here are some more professional characteristics to consider:

Magic Tricks:
a. Amazing tricks and style. The presentations of the tricks are like jokes: they can be the same jokes, but comedians deliver them differently. Same with magicians and tricks. Check his or her style to be sure it’s what you like.
b. Right equipment: Check what types of elements the close-up magician uses: it could be cards, coins, handkerchiefs, sponge balls or more, but it should all look amazing!
  1. Attire:
The way a magician dresses is very important. Some strolling magicians on TV do close-up magic in jeans, shorts and sandals to differentiate themselves from the classic magician. Street magicians performing close-up magic can be dressed to look very sporty, however for a formal event; a magician needs to appear classy and very presentable – preferably in a tie if the event is very elegant. Other times, you can request that the magician dress in character. For instance, once a customer asked me to dress like a modern hipster – and it was fun!:-)
  2. Professional & Legal Company:
Ideally, a professional magician is going to have his or her own company, and it will be registered with the state. The more time that the magician has had an established company, the better – it reflects stability and a serious commitment to the career. Here are some other elements a professional magician will offer through his or her company:
    a. Contract: A professional magician should be able to respond quickly in writing with a form of contract or invoice that outlines the services to be provided and other details, such as payments, deposit requirements, policy on cancellations, etc. Avoid headaches and people who take too long to send invoices, contracts or information. It could be a sign of unreliability.
    b. Paperwork – Insurance: An experienced entertainer and professional magician knows what is required by many clients and should be able to quickly send upon request copies of insurance, background checks, fingerprints, and worker’s compensation waivers.
  3. Punctuality: This is crucial! A professional magician always always always has to be on time! Preferably, the magician arrives even earlier than what the customer is expecting. But the magician should have a policy stated on the invoice or contract about arriving ahead of the show start time in order to set up and be prepared. For close-up magic, that could be at least 15 – 20 minutes before the estimated performance start time.
  4. Flexibility: You want a magician who understands that the event is not about the magician, it is about the audience. PICK A MAGICIAN FOR YOUR EVENT WHO IS CAPABLE TO HANDLE UNEXPECTED SITUATIONS.
    a. Delays at the event: In some cases, the events can be delayed and other unexpected situations may arise that may delay his or her start time for hours. You need a magician who is professional and flexible, someone who responds calmly in a stressful situation – who is part of the solution, not the problem.
    b. Long hours of work: In some cases the magician needs to work for 2-3 hours non stop. The magician needs to understand to be prepared for those long hours.
    c. Set-up: In some cases the set-up is not as the customer described. For example, the magician was told there would be dinner tables for 5 people each and indoors. But at the event there actually are long tables of 15 people each, and the event is outdoors. The magician needs to be prepared to change gears quickly without complaint and drama, and still perform a great show.
  5. THE MOST IMPORTANT: Experience: It is very important when choosing a strolling magician for your event to ask about experience. Just because a magician does stage shows does not mean that he or she has experience doing close-up magic. Also, check on the type of close-up magic the magician has done. It is not the same to do close-up magic at a casual dinner fundraiser event than a wedding or trade show or a carnival or cruise. The different is enormous and the magician needs to have the right experience and offer the specific show for the specific event.

Finally: Now how do I find a close-up magician / strolling magician?

  1. Visit the magician’s website to know more about him or her. Carefully read the background information as well as references and feedback from past customers. Watch videos if available to check out the magician’s style. Look for lots of pictures of the magician performing close-up magic in the type of event that you’re planning.
  2. Be in direct contact with the magician by email or phone.
  3. Ask questions about how to make your event even better. This is a good way to see if the magician has experience and his or her level of professionalism. Based on experience, the magician should have his or her own suggestions.
  4. Try to hire the magician directly. Know exactly who and what you’re hiring and paying for.
  5. If still you are not sure what magician is good for your event, seek advice and feedback from family, friends or colleagues by sharing with them the websites of the potential magicians you have in mind.
